" well, you know the rest. the three tasks may be different in different versions, but the main plot is always the same, with the prince claiming the princess's hand triumphantly.

and the ending is always the same, finishing with the line "and they live happily every after."

why aren't we tired of something so fanciful, so unrealistic, and, i would say, so unimaginative? how can a story like that endure generations of repetition`? because, i think, it is a typical success story.

it is highly philosophical and symbolic. by implication, we see a 4-step definition of success: 1 ) a goal to be set.

as represented by the beautiful princess; 2 ) challenges to be met, as represented by the three tasks; 3 ) the process of surmounting difficulties, as represented by the ordeals the youth goes through; and 4 ) the reward of success, as represented by the happy marriage.

the story not only caters to everyone's inward yearning for success, but also emphasizes the inseparability of the process and the result. the reward of success will be much amplified if the path leading towards it is treacherous, and vice versa. if a person inherits his father's millions and leads an easy life, he is not a successful person even in material terms, because there are no difficulties involved in his achieving affluence.

the term "success", to be sure. will not sit still for easy definition. but as i understand it, the true meaning of success entails a ***bination of both the process and the satisfactory result of an endeavor.

to clarify my view, let me give another analogy.

if we changed the rules of football, greatly enlarged the goal and sent away david seaman or any other goal keeper, so that another david, namely david beckham, could score easily, then scoring would not give him the thrill of ac***plishment and the joy that it brings. if we further changed the rules by not allowing arsenal's defenders to defend, so that beckham needed only to lift a finger, actually a toe, to score, then there would be no game at all, because the meaning of winning would have disappeared. in accepting the challenge, in surmounting the difficulties and in enduring the hardship, success acquires its value.

我抬头望了望他们三个，可他们似乎也没有出发的勇气，正不住四处望着。他们都不还没找到目标，要不我先去吧，不然过一会儿小姐姐就要走了。可是要是她不愿意写怎么办呢?不怕一万就怕万一，我的心提到了嗓子眼。

经过张总的面试我有幸去参加培训学习。聆听张总的讲解我增添了热情，感觉挺有前途的。回家后，我同妻子说了我要涉足保险行业。她担心我有困难，做不好。我给她说经过培训学习会一步一步的做成的。妻子知道我只要自己想做一定会把事情做好的人，因此她也不再说什么了，只是叮嘱说用心努力，来鼓励我。

公司的培训班在9月12日如期开班，我们去二十多人一行来到登封的文惠山庄，一个风景不错的地方。找一个环境优美、食宿讲究、排除干扰、用封闭的方式足见公司领导的重视。课程安排得满满的，专业的讲师们从保险的起源、发展、现状、前景，以及人寿的实力、辉煌、博爱做了详实而透彻的讲解，不乏还有保险礼仪课程。讲师是团队的精英成功人士，讲了他们的职场生涯，从一个销售员凭着毅力与韧性，克服困难冲破险阻一步一步做大做强，为我们新学员做起榜样，并为我们加油打气。为期三天的培训学习圆满结束，短短的培训学习粗略的知道些中国人寿保险知识，而模拟实践和详知的知识要在新兵训练营中学习。培训结束时，培训部的张建国经理建议我们这些新学员一定要到新兵训练营进一步的学习。

满载着自信，憧憬着未来，修炼下山归来。当学员回到支公司，每个人领取了一份合同，即将成为中国人寿保险公司的一位销售人员。将来面对的是现实，保单多少决定命运，任务就是成绩，成绩就是天梯。未雨绸缪，既然想踏入这一行业，先把自己推销出去，介绍给大家让他们知道我是干什么的，同时作个市场调查，看现实中的人们对保险的认知度和评价，做到知己知彼，了然于胸。于是，我在工友间大胆地向他们推销自己，当他们知道我要做保险销售员，有的说这行业不好做，有的说保险是骗人的，有的说保险售后服务不好有的说......不过值得欣慰的是有一位工友说，现在人们已经有保险意识，但是已入新农合，做工的有了工伤意外险。总体反映不理想，负面居多。看来保险业任重而道远，需要加大宣传力度与幅度，转变人们的观念，让人们认识到保险是造福于民，明白保险是功德无量的事情。加强保险行业队伍思想道德建设，提高自身素质与修养，提升服务质量，完善理赔收服务体系，转变工作作风，树立行业形象，赢得人们的信赖，取得人们的良好口碑。

第一次市场调查对我没有太大的干扰，事物总有两面性的，人们的认识是不一样的，好的事物也有一个认识的过程，这需要努力展现和不断的接触。又有一次机会，本家堂侄要吃喜面，内亲外亲好友来了不少，这可是至亲至爱的人吧。俗话说，亲戚亲戚，难时帮你。人们做事总喜欢在亲戚熟人堆里打开缺口，想着人脉在，亲情浓。当我谈及保险时，一个个摇头又摆手。看着他们怀疑和否定的态度，犹如一盆冷水浇头而过，冰冷了我的热情，浇灭了我心中的火苗。本来后边还有精彩的行业知识要说，这失败的局面让我脑海一片空白。原先支持我的妻子来了一百八十度的大转弯，有中立变得竭力反对，令我沮丧和懊恼。从事保险行业本来是件好事，既可以锻炼自己的能力又可以改变家庭的经济状况，然而引起家庭不和睦，影响家人之间和谐关系。我要考虑是否要舍弃还是继续？由激情满满，干劲十足到迷茫彷徨再到举手投降，遗憾落幕。我沉思，痛苦的抉择，说句心里话我不愿放弃。试想当年我下学后无事可做，只能自谋出路。成家之初，在岳母的资助下我怀揣120块钱，在妻子的大姐指引下，在她的邻居的图书批发店进购了第一批图书，自此开始了我销售图书的生涯。那时我骑着一辆破旧的自行车，后座上驮着一纸箱图书穿梭于乡村之间，游走于学校之间。一天一个学校，那时每个大队都有小学，每个乡镇都有初级中学。我就像学生上学一样，不过不一样的是他们放学我“上学”，他们上学时我“放学”。那时有有书没钱，有钱没书。赢利进成书，卖了再进成书，就像滚雪球一样，越滚越大。初始，我就摆在学校门口，等待学生中午吃过饭来买。时间久了，发现学生需要哪些作文、辅助教材，就去学校班里推销，结果双赢，学生学习知识了，我也获得利润了。随后联系学校找老师，生意越做越大。现实的状况并不乐观，天下没有独门生意，可谓是一个人独吃，两个人平分，三个人竞争。头脑灵活的人尾随而至，其结果，商场如战场，竞争再竞争，没有硝烟的战争在同行业间展开。这需要策略与技巧，人脉即人际关系，但更重要的是一个人的人品和素质。我靠的是真挚与忠诚，以心换心，用自己的真诚打动他们。在他们同行间相互把熟人介绍给我，虽有挖墙脚踢门槛但厚道的的人还是选择的是我。不过从事这一行业也挺累心的，一门心思的想着别人的喜好，疏通关系，加强人脉。感觉好累，好烦。

痛定思痛，痛何至哉。我找到石固营销部的杨明山经理和另一个负责人王辉，我向他们诉说了我目前的状况。他俩就像医生给我分析了病症，开药打针，消除我心中的忧虑，鼓励我不要气馁，增强信心。杨经理说，你的步子迈得大了，刚会走就想跑，肯定会摔跤的，慢慢来。王辉说，不要那么痛苦，快乐做保险，做保险应该很快乐。经过他俩的一番开导和帮助，舒缓我心中的压力和困惑，心胸为之豁然开朗，信心又回来了。又想起培训部的张建国经理的一句话“回去不要急于去做，一定要到新兵营听课”。

回首过去历历在目，成长有一个过程，成熟需要不断的蜕变与历练。人生机遇无处不在，挑战随影相伴。自信与激情做航标，坚韧与毅力做风帆，乘风破浪勇往直前。

当前,我国商业保险业务发展很快,有力地支持了国民经济的发展,安定了职工群众的生活,但也存在一些问题不容忽视。

据统计,到1996年底我国已有各类保险公司总数达20多家,全国商业保险分支机构6,500个,从业人员14万人,各种保险代理20万人。1995年颁布实施的《保险法》使我国保险业步入法制化的健康发展轨道,初步形成了以中国人民保险（集团）公司为主体,多家保险公司共同发展,具有一定竞争规模的保险市场体系。随着保险业务领域的不断扩展及全社会保险意识的普遍提高,保险业从80年代中后期开始有了持续高速的发展,出现了可喜的局面。

1、保险业务增长快,保费收入和经济效益的增长均超过了同期国民经济发展速度,保险业务范围向纵深发展,新业务新险种不断涌现,保险市场规模日趋扩大。“八・五”期间,保险业保费收入年均增长44%,远远高于国民生产总值12%的增长速度。1996年我国保费收入856 46亿元,保险金额15 8万亿元,近百万家企业、1亿个家庭、4亿人次、2亿多亩农作物参加了各类保险。涉外保险承保了3,000多亿美元的进出口贸易额和绝大部分三资企业的保险,并在世界主要港口委托了300多家货损检验和理赔代理人。

2、保险风险责任巨大,索赔案件增多,保险的经济补偿作用日益显著。保险事业的发展为国民经济持续稳定增长保驾护航,为人民生命财产的.安全和社会稳定发挥了巨大的经济保障作用。如中保集团在1998年南北方特大洪涝灾害中深入受灾现场,本着“主动、迅速、准确、合理”的理赔原则,为受灾地区企业和人民的生产自救、灾后重建发挥了主渠道作用。

3、保险市场对外开放稳步发展我国保险市场对外开放始于80年代初期,预计到下个世纪初中国保险开放的地域将从上海和广州等地扩大到主要沿海经济中心城市,除有计划地增加引进外资保险机构数量外,我国还将开展引进外资保险经纪人公司和保险代理人公司的工作。

4、我国保险业的国际化程度不断提高国民经济和保险市场的对外开放,为保险企业开拓海外市场创造了极为有利的条件。目前,我国的保险企业已在海外设立了120个分支代理机构,年保费收入近3亿美元。我国保险企业还通过再保险方式,为海外的保险人提供保险服务,如中保集团在世界各地设立分支机构71个,与120个国家和地区的1,000多家保险和再保险公司建立了业务关系,每年再保险分出分入业务的保费流量在2亿美元左右。

（一）保险业正处于起步阶段,社会公众的保险意识淡薄,保险市场主体偏少,缺乏适度竞争,保险市场体系仍不完善。

当前,我国的人均国民生产总值、保险密度和保险深度都较低,保险业还处于起步阶段,未能在国民经济运行中和公众生活中发挥举足轻重的作用。同时,我国公众的风险及保险意识淡薄,形成了社会风险总量增加与消费者保险意识滞后的矛盾。

从目前的保险市场主体看,参加保险市场的保险公司数量太少,虽然我国保险公司的总数已达20多家,但是只有中保集团等极少数保险公司可以在全国开展业务,中保集团仍控制着70%的份额,其它公司各自所占的份额很小,说明保险市场垄断程度依然偏高,缺乏适度竞争。同时,这与我国人口状况不相适应。如美国人口为2亿,保险公司6,000家,香港人口与广州大致相当,但香港有229家保险公司,从业人员8,000人左右,而我国人口12亿多,仅有保险公司20余家。这种状况的弊端是难以给保险市场的竞争者带来真正的压力,也使消费者无法享受到优质的服务。

（二）保险业发展总体水平落后,业务结构发展不平衡,险种结构单一,适应性不强,新险种开发缓慢。我国保险业务总量仍然偏低,总体发展水平还很落后。1995年我国保费收入为615 7亿人民币,约合74亿美元,不及美国的1%。表明我国的保险服务特别是寿险服务还远远不能满足社会需要。

保险业务结构发展不平衡表现在:一是产险业务比重大,寿险业务增幅快,二是产险和寿险业务结构不合理,产险中企财险和机动车辆险位居一、二位,各公司对航意险的争夺激烈;寿险中团体险占较大比重,短期险发展缓慢,三是城乡保险业务比例失调,城市保险发展明显快于农村,农业保险占产险业
